First Day Out of School

Isn't it great when you can finally sleep in, your all excited about it the night before, and no matter what you do, you wake at your usual early hour! My exciting first day off of school was spent doing laundry, making the kids lunch, and cleaning up all the things that have been neglected for weeks, maybe months. Every summer I have these grand hopes of fun and excitment and then the summer goes by and I'm left wondering what happened and where was all the excitement. This year is going to be different....I hope. Actually, even without big plans, I enjoy my time with my children and having a more flexible schedule.

  1. Pam,
Enjoying time with your children is such a gift, isn't it? I know that I am at least as excited as my children are for them to be done school so that we can begin our summer festivities...which means hitting the road for an adventure sometimes and playing in the neighborhood enjoying a popsicle sometimes. The flexible schedule is wonderful.

I think one of the greatest benefits of being a teacher is the chance to start new every August, and the chance to reflect every June. July is reserved for "no school" in my mind (except for this year!) Very few professions offer that sort of opportunity.

  2. I know what you mean about big plans, but just remember to take them one day at a time. Spending time with your own children is priceless in itself. Maybe try writing down your summer goals. It is said that goals are not really goals till they are written down.

  3. Pam,

I have four days left of school and cannot wait until I do not have to rely on an alarm clock to wake up to.
